I was lucky enough to return to Bologna, Italy last month, for a second time, to teach a series of workshops. I am so utterly in love with this city and the people in it, vibrant, enthusiastic and welcoming, so wanted to share my top tips for food, yoga and general enjoyment, should you feel the pull to this beautiful place. Flights are cheap and its only 2 hours from London, this city comes alive in the sunshine, with musicians of all genres on every corner of every beautiful square, I walked between workshops every day and soaked it all up, you can spend hours pouring over the beautiful architecture of every single building, get lost in the many lanes and little cafes and eat an array of amazing food! (Im gluten intolerant so unfortunately none of the beautiful pasta for me! But there were lots of options for vegan and Gluten free! read on to find out…)
1 Yoga – If you go to Bologna you must go to practise at Vinyasa Yoga Bologna, the most beautiful, light space, with the most welcoming teachers with a real community feel, that is rare to experience outside of your hometown. The owners Alex and Greta are the most beautiful humans and make you feel welcome immediately. The classes are (of course) in Italian, but you can easily follow, I did and to be honest it was great to feel a bit like the beginner in the room, not quite sure what was coming next! They have a huge array of classes and workshops and the yogis there are so welcoming, it’s a home from home!
2 Food – I always struggle to find places to eat when I travel as my diet is complicated (No Gluten, Dairy, Soya or Meat) so I was delighted to discover there were lotsof options head to Fragola in Central Bologna, for an amazing Green Juce and an array of hearty vegetarian and vegan options (I had a beautiful bean soup and a green juice for lunch it was belissimo!) for an evening much, amazing vibes and a tipple head to Pappare where I ate the most devine Bologna Buddha bowl, full of all the good stuff! Another amazing raw & vegan restaurant is Botanica Lab
3 Accommodation – I was lucky enough to stay in the most devine Air B&B apartment in via independent in the heart of the city. Huge hallways and old style italian interiors, I fell in love! I highly recommend staying around this area as you are right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city and can walk anywhere!
I cannot recommend this little pocket of paradise enough!
